Photography has been a life long companion (almost thirty years). This friendship began as soon as I left the PX in Saigon (1970), with my Canon Pellix. This Canon was something special, with a two way fixed mirror that reflected for viewing and transmitted for film capture. How great was this technology? My image quality would never suffer from mirror vibration! Unfortunately I could not take full advantage of this technology-I hardly ever used a tripod in those days. The technology wasn’t moving very fast back then and I still managed to buy more than I needed. Moral…don’t chase technology too closely.
Photography, as a personified friend, has helped me get up earlier than almost everyone else; it stretches my imagination, and provides a modest amount of discretionary income. Above and beyond the pleasing images that I record, photography gives me a deep appreciation of my surroundings. The products of this craft have become part of my most valuable processions.
